Project Overview

The Lymm Water Tower, an iconic structure in Lymm, Cheshire, was constructed in the late 19th century to supply water to the local community. Between 2002 and 2004, the Grade II-listed building was lovingly transformed into a stunning family residence and guesthouse, earning several architectural and design awards. Recently, areas of the resin floor began to show signs of wear and needed refurbishment. The client wanted to create a UV-stable, seamless resin floor that would be visually appealing, durable, and easy to maintain.

The Solution

After consulting with Arturo, the client used a white Arturo PU3320 resin coating for the floor finish. This high-performance resin coating produces a seamless satin finish with UV stability, protecting it from discolouration. It is also hard-wearing and chemical-resistant, ensuring longevity and ease of maintenance.

The refurbishment commenced with a detailed assessment and preparation of the existing floor, which involved grinding off the old coating, repairing hairline cracks, and ensuring a smooth surface for the new resin application. Arturo PU3320 was mixed and applied in stages throughout the entire residence. Two coats of Arturo PU3320 were applied to achieve the desired thickness, opacity and finish.

A key feature of the Arturo PU3320 is its smooth and seamless finish. This not only enhances the floor's appearance and aesthetic appeal but also makes it easier to clean and maintain. The new flooring beautifully complements the stunning architecture and interior of the building.

The Result

The refurbishment led to a remarkable transformation, with the new Arturo floor enhancing the overall appearance of the Lymm Water Tower, blending modern aesthetics with the structure's historic charm. The floor has shown impressive durability and UV stability, maintaining its stunning white appearance despite exposure to sunlight, ensuring it remains vibrant and attractive over time. Additionally, the seamless nature of the Arturo PU3320 resin coating has made the floor easy to clean and maintain.
