What is ESD static resin flooring?
The Arturo ESD Static Resin Floor is a 2-component, epoxy-based self-smoothing floor system with integrated electrical conductivity. Applied at 1.5–2mm total build-up, it provides a hard-wearing, seamless surface that actively dissipates electrostatic charge to ground via a copper tape earthing grid embedded beneath the conductive primer layer.
Unlike standard resin floors, the ESD system incorporates a dedicated conductive primer (EP6400) that forms a continuous, low-resistance electrical path through the floor to the earth point. This is critical in environments where an uncontrolled electrostatic discharge event could ignite flammable vapours, damage sensitive electronic components, or trigger explosive materials.
The seamless surface prevents the accumulation of particulates, bacteria, and contaminants, making it fully compatible with GMP, cleanroom, and pharmaceutical manufacturing standards.
Substrate & installation requirements
ESD systems are critically dependent on correct substrate preparation and earthing continuity. The following conditions must be verified before installation.
- Substrate compressive strength minimum 25 N/mm², confirm by pull-off test before proceeding
- Surface regularity SR2, grind high spots; fill cracks, blowholes and voids prior to priming
- Relative humidity below 75% RH, specify EP6700 2-Coat DPM or EP6960 1-Coat DPM if exceeded
- Copper tape earthing grid installed on substrate and connected to a verified earth point before EP6400 application
- Ambient and substrate temperature between 10°C–25°C throughout application and curing
- Post-installation resistance testing (Rgp) to IEC 61340-4-1 required to validate system performance

Performance Benefits
Electrostatic discharge control
Dissipates static charge continuously to earth, protecting sensitive electronics, explosive materials, and personnel from ESD events.
Explosion protection
Prevents ignition of flammable vapours and explosive materials by eliminating static spark risk, critical in munitions, solvent-handling, and ATEX zones
Impermeable seamless surface
Jointless finish with no seams or grout lines. Impermeable to liquids and process chemicals. Compatible with GMP and ISO cleanroom cleaning regimes.
Chemical resistance
Epoxy chemistry provides good resistance to a wide range of process chemicals, cleaning agents, and solvents. Full chemical resistance list available on request
22 RAL colour options
Available in 22 RAL colours via EP2490, allowing zone demarcation, hazard coding, or design differentiation without compromising ESD performance.
Impact and wear resistance
Shore D 80–85 epoxy surface handles medium-duty industrial foot traffic, trolley movement, and light equipment use without compromising conductivity.
